Learning Campfire Safety

Pack 3 met up at Tyler State Park to learn about campfire safety. Cubs helped to build the fire by collecting tinder and kindling from around the boathouse. They stacked the wood, and then Mrs. Huston showed them how to light the fire. Once we had it going, all of the Cubs and their families roasted s’mores.

Campfire Safety:

• make sure you have water nearby to safely put out the fire
• whatever goes in the fire, stays in the fire
• walk around the outside of the fire circle
• keep loose clothing and long hair tied back
• only build a fire as big as you need
• always have supervision when near the campfire
